Through an exploratory grant from the National Science Foundation, we are investigating the fundamental processes that cause the mixing enhancement in MESPI and JSE. We will focus on what happens inside and outside a converging-diverging nozzle operated in overexpanded mode. The facility drawn above will allow some unique observations of the internal and external flow phenomena.
